Flowers, etc.

Whenever I go to my brother and sister-in-law’s house, they always have fresh flowers. “Three bunches for $12!” is what my sister-in-law, Sarah always says. $12 is a very small price to pay for a month’s worth of fresh, living decor. I told myself, as soon as I had a steady income, I would start buying flowers every month.

Well guess what? I now have flowers!

I bought two bunches of carnations and a bunch of “florist selects,” essentially a grab bag of small flowers like yellow daisies and kermit mums. I bought the carnations because, if there’s anything I’ve learned from the folks over at YHL, it’s that carnations are the best flower for the budget-minded, once-a-month shopper.

I’m hoping the more months that go by with the purchase of flowers, the better I will get at floral arrangements.

And perhaps that my photo documentation of them will get easier.

  1. That irregularly shaped white vase in the second and third pictures looks very familiar. Either from your wedding, or something that used to be your mom’s, right?

    • They were actually yours, Dad! And as recently as our last visit to Dallas when Ali gave them to us 🙂

  2. Most of the time I buy one bunch for four! Even cheaper! I seperate the one bunch into several bud vases. I have been known to cut some buds from my moms yard too!
